Lior Yankelson – Founder and Director
Lior has founded a number of companies in the life science arena: Co-founded Genegrafts, a start-up developing a cell therapy product for atrial fibrillation; founded Corridor, a company involved in developing a non-invasive device for the treatment of pulmonary congestion; founded NeuroQuest, a company developing advanced diagnostics for neurodegenerative diseases. While at the Technion, Lior co-founded and directed the BizTEC Entrepreneurship Forum and Innovation Competition. Lior received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
Abraham Domb - Founder
Since 1992, Abraham J. Domb has been a professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products at the School of Pharmacy, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests are biopolymers, gene therapy, controlled drug delivery, cancer therapy, biodegradable plastics, hydrogels, coatings, nanoparticulate systems, and polymeric complexes.
He received a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry and B. Pharm in 1984 from the Hebrew University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Syntex Research in California and a research associate at MIT/Harvard (with R. Langer and J. Folkman). From 1988 to 1992 he founded and headed the Drug Delivery and Polymer division at Nova Pharmaceuticals in Baltimore, Maryland.
Professor Domb has more than 150 patents in his name, many of which have been incorporated in large-scale commercial applications: Gliadel™ brain tumor implant (Guilford, U.S.); Superfloc poly (hydroxamic acid) for purification of aluminum (American Cyanamid, U.S.); Deximmune, cyclosporine capsule for treating transplant rejection (Dexxon, Israel), Elutex (IPO).
